Mayor Pete Buttigieg, Meat and God
Pete Buttigieg, mayor of South Bend, Indiana, seems to have some twisted notions about the concept of sin. He complains about the consumption of meat and it's ill effect on the environment: "...God is watching as poison is being belched into the air of creation...what do you suppose God thinks?" Buttigieg calls it, "kind of [a] sin."
It's ironic to hear talk about G-d, creation and sin from an open homosexual who is "married" to another male homosexual. The Bible very explicitly condemns homosexuality as a sin; nowhere does it say eating meat and belching is a sin. Buttigieg admonition others about sin is like a drug addict admonishing others about the hazards of eating gluten.
Furthermore, where's the evidence that eating meat is bad for the environment? According to the EPA, fossil fuels account for the bulk of greenhouse gas emissions, agriculture nine percent and livestock roughly four percent. Buttigieg is an excellent example of how people who have no moral values often rally behind meaningless causes to give themselves a sense of righteousness.
